HALLA Beanie is a close-fitting hat with a wide folded ribbed brim, a decorative two-color slip-stitch pattern featuring subtle references to classic Nordic knitting motifs, and a final ribbed section worked in stripes that brings the design together.
The hat is worked from the bottom up in a soft wool yarn available in a wide range of colors—perfect if you want to create your own unique color combination for the HALLA Beanie.

SIZE: Adult
FITS HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE: Approx. 54–56 cm (21¼–22 in)
FINISHED HAT CIRCUMFERENCE: Approx. 53 cm (20¾ in)
The hat is designed to fit snugly and is worked with negative ease, meaning the finished circumference is smaller than the head circumference.
For a looser fit or a larger head size, work the hat using needles 0.5 mm larger, which will result in a larger finished hat.

MATERIALS & YARN REQUIREMENTS
Peruvian Highland Wool by Filcolana, 100% wool, 100 m / 50 g (109 yd / 1.76 oz)
-Color A (brim color): 100 g, Shown in color 101 Natural White or 102 Black
-Color B (body color): 50 g, Shown in color 382 Dark Bordeaux or 977 Marzipan

-Waste yarn for provisional cast-on
(Yarn should be of similar weight to Peruvian Highland Wool)

-US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle, 40 cm (16 in) or 80 cm (32 in) for Magic Loop

GAUGE
21 sts in slip-stitch pattern, worked according to the text pattern, using US 6 (4 mm) needles = 10 cm (4 in), measured after washing and blocking.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The hat is worked from the bottom up. A provisional Italian cast-on using waste yarn is used; the technique is demonstrated in a video (see Techniques).
After the wide ribbed brim, a two-color slip-stitch pattern is worked following the written instructions.
The hat is finished with a striped ribbed crown section, shaped with double decreases worked at four points.
